Joanne Kandy Latham (born in Wolverhampton) is a former and current English glamour model.
After studying classical ballet for ten years and taking a scholarship to the Royal Ballet School Joanne started modelling at the age of 16 and was an instant success. After sixteen appearances on Page 3 of The Sun during 1979-81, demand for her worldwide was dynamic and Playboy and Penthouse magazine bosses battled over her signature. Finally in 1979 she agreed to appear "nude" in the 10th Anniversary issue of Penthouse magazine, signing a £70,000 contract.
Joanne featured on the cover of Death Penalty the debut album by NWOBHM band Witchfinder General. It was released in 1982 on Heavy Metal Records. The album received some criticism for the cover photograph which had been taken in the yard of St Mary the Blessed Virgin Church in Enville, Staffordshire, without the permission of the local Reverend.[1] The album was originally released on LP and picture disc and was later reissued on CD.
Joanne also featured on the cover of Friends of Hell, the second album by doom metal band Witchfinder General. It was released in 1983 on Heavy Metal Records.
Joanne appeared in many television commercials both in the U.K. and the U.S. She made a documentary for the 1980s Central Television series 'England their England' on her life as a model and has since been approached to make a follow up. Joanne also featured on a T.V. show with Tony Curtis and Frankie Vali. She studied drama at the old Repertory Theatre in Birmingham and plans once again to return to the stage working with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Joanne quit modelling in 1982 and on holiday in Spain she met Francois Trigano, with whom she had a daughter, Blue.
Comedian Frank Skinner named Joanne as his favourite Page 3 girl:
"I was asked in an interview about my favourite Page 3 girl and I said that in my youth it was Joanne Latham...A couple of weeks later, those (some fake Gazza breasts) arrived in my post with a fabulous inscription: 'Sorry I couldn't be there in person, but for old time's sake, suck on these. Yours truly, Joanne Latham'.[2]
Joanne is currently teaching Yoga,[3] writing her autobiography[4] and a thirteen part series for television. She is working on setting up Yoga and Natural Healing Centres throughout the U.K. Joanne is planning to return to the U.S. to promote her book. She is also considering moving to California with her daughter Blue.
